Madaba – city of mosaics

IMG_2177-001We spend a few days in Madaba, a small city 30 minutes south of Amman.

The city is also know as the City of Mosaic since it’s archaeological sites have discovered mosaics from the the roman, byzantine and omayyad era. Most prominent is the “Madaba Map”, a 6th century mosaic depiction of Jerusalem and parts of the Holy Land.

Besides watching mosaics we spent considerable time in coffee shops since Nadine fell in love with Arabic coffee.
