Our biggest assignment in Malawi was to create 3 mosaics for the headquarters of AYISE in Blantyre.

This project was dormant for 3 years and the sponsors Demelza (National Secretary of Servas Malawi) and Marcel (Director of AYISE) jumped on the opportunity to finally realize it with our help.

We spend 8 days together with volunteers from the AYISE youth center and Servas Malawi to create 2 wall and 1 large floor mosaic and transform a neglected area of the AYISE compound into a peace garden. The volunteers were so excited that they decided to use their new learned skills to create more mosaics for the local youth center in the future.

For us it was a great time learning new skills and having interesting conversations with the young, local volunteers. We are excited that we didn’t just pass through Malawi as tourists but left something beautiful behind.
