Kathmandu is one of those mythical places people mention when they talk about faraway travel. It is an overload of noise, colors and cultures; it is the essence of a Nepal trip: Temples are mixed in with trekking agencies and outdoor outfitters. Excited and exhausted trekking tourists rub shoulders with locals in the narrow and congested streets. Momo stalls are squeezed in between 5 star accommodations. People warship in front of temples in the street while bikes and cars honk their way past them and tourists try to get the best shot of it with over-sized cameras. It is a mess but it is fun once you embrace it.
